"Costumes des Femmes de Divers Pays" or "Costumes of Women from Various Countries" is a collection of fashion plates from 1827 illustrated by Louis-Marie Lante' and engraved by his frequent collaborator George-Jacques Gatine. The vibrant, hand-colored engravings showing women from the Pyrenees to Peru in everyday and festive dress are the perfect fit for our oblong and rectangular trays. Decoupage à la mode.
The pressed leaves from John’s 18th-century collection of Dutch plant studies have fluttered into a new shipment from Astier de Villatte. These delicate, almost 300-year-old specimens, beautifully designed on glazed terracotta plates, are a lovely reminder that spring is in the air.

Yay — it’s the first day of spring!
No time is John’s love of botany more evident than in spring. In our decoupage department, a magical garden grows under glass. Whether you fancy a simple flower or a lush bouquet, John has crafted a collection rich in botanical choice. Among the selection, a single camellia blossom under a domed paperweight, while dark pink azaleas fill a ginger jar lamp.
British designer Jeanette Farrier began her career as a costume designer for film and television. While visiting India in the early 2000s, she discovered colorful blankets quilted from vintage cotton saris. Impressed by the care taken to use everything and waste nothing, she began designing one-of-a-kind throws made from the textiles she collected. She has since launched a line of quilted bedcovers printed with patterns gathered on her many visits to India. Jeanette has invited John to add to the collection using designs from his trove of 18th-century quilts.
The artists at Penkridge Ceramics in the UK have been producing hyper-realistic fruit and vegetables since 1984. Inspired by trompe l’oeil and early still life painting, each piece is cast from nature with astonishing accuracy, with subtlety of color and texture achieved through layers of glaze.
