The artists at Penkridge Ceramics in the UK have been producing hyper-realistic fruit and vegetables since 1984. Inspired by trompe l’oeil and early still life painting, each piece is cast from nature with astonishing accuracy, with subtlety of color and texture achieved through layers of glaze. Green thumbs up abound!
British designer Jeanette Farrier began her career as a costume designer for film and television. While visiting India in the early 2000s, she discovered colorful blankets quilted from vintage cotton saris. Impressed by the care taken to use everything and waste nothing, she began designing one-of-a-kind throws made from the textiles she collected. She has since launched a line of quilted bedcovers printed with patterns gathered on her many visits to India. Jeanette has invited John to add to the collection using designs from his trove of 18th-century quilts.
